The fund object is a representative office and administration building in Cologne, administrative district Nippes. It was developed for and in consultation with the city of Cologne as a district town hall and built with special features and access for public town hall operations, a district library, offices for members of parliament and an adult education centre. The building is located approximately four kilometres north of Cologne city centre, directly on Neusser Straße and the Neusser Straße/Gürtel underground station, and thus in a central location in the administrative district of Cologne-Nippes.
In addition to the usual official tasks of a district town hall, the staff at the Nippes Customer Centre are available to citizens for passport, driving licence and registration matters. In addition, the Bürgeramt is home to the school and sports departments. The district foreigners’ office and the youth welfare office are also located here.
Furthermore, the Cologne-Nippes District Town Hall houses a district library on an area of 1.210 m². On the lower floors, there is an extensive range of courses offered by the Volkshochschule Köln (Cologne Adult Education Centre). The district town hall is thus far more than just an authority – it is a place of communication, encounter and education.
