PARIBUS KAPITALVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT | SUSTAINABILITY (ESG)

Keeping an eye on the sustainability goals

Paribus Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH takes into account any risks related to sustainability aspects (environmental, social and corporate governance) when making investment decisions for the managed AIFs as well as on an ongoing basis during the investment period of existing investments. This relates in particular to the risks that can be derived from the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

Environmental
  • Climate protection
  • Adaptation to climate change
  • Protection of biological diversity
  • Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
  • Transition to a circular economy, waste prevention and recycling
  • Pollution prevention and decrease
  • Protection of healthy ecosystems
  • Sustainable land use
Social
  • Compliance with recognised labour standards (no child labour, no forced labour, no discrimination)
  • Compliance with occupational safety and health protection
  • Appropriate payment, fair conditions in the workplace, diversity, as well as training and development opportunities
  • Freedom of trade unionism and assembly
  • Ensuring sufficient product safety, including health protection
  • Equal requirements for companies in the supply chain
  • Inclusive projects or consideration for the needs of communities and social minorities
  • Tax honesty
Corporate Governance/Company management
  • Measures to prevent corruption
  • Sustainability management by the Executive Board and Supervisory Board
  • Executive remuneration in dependence of sustainability
  • Enabling whistle blowing
  • Ensuring employees‘ rights
  • Ensuring data protection
  • Disclosure of information

Sustainability risks affect all known types of risk and do not represent a separate type of risk, but are assigned as a partial aspect to the known types of risk such as market risk, liquidity risk, credit risk or operational risk and are taken into account in the sales print materials when determining the risk dimensions. They can have an amplifying effect and then sometimes contribute significantly to the overall risk profile of an AIF.

With this in mind, the appropriate consideration of sustainability risks is anchored in risk management as part of our overall risk strategy. The aim is to identify the occurrence of these risks as early as possible and to take appropriate measures to minimise the impact on the assets concerned. In this regard, we are engaged in an ongoing process that leads to a review of the appropriateness and further training of the methods and procedures for identifying, assessing, managing and monitoring sustainability risks at regular intervals.

Paribus Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft does not currently fully consider adverse effects of investment decisions on sustainability factors. The information necessary to determine and weigh out the adverse sustainability impacts from environmental, social and governance aspects are not yet available on the market to the full extent and in the required quality. Paribus Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft will establish internal policies to fully consider the main adverse impacts of investment decisions on sustainability factors.
